YAPI - Open Mic For Youth!
YAPI is FREE for performers age 18 and under with a valid KFF wristband.

YAPI was created in 2003 by Brenda Freed who wanted to provide performance opportunities for youth in Wimberley, TX and the surrounding Texas Hill Country. YAPI encourages youth to explore performing and learn stage presence skills in a non-competitive, supportive environment. Performances of all kinds and skill levels are welcomed. Original material is encouraged, however, not required. For many participants, YAPI is their first public performance with a sound system. Several have gone on to public performance careers. Since 2013, YAPI has been serving youth in the KFF campground.
"YAPI open mic night provided me the opportunity to perform for a receptive audience, which was crucial to my development as a musician," said Sahara Smith, singer/songwriter, runner-up in Garrison Keillor's 2004 Prairie Home Companion Young Artist Competition, 2007 Austin City Limits Festival performer, 2010 performer on David Letterman Show and Kerrville Folk Festival performer in 2011.
The YAPI open mic for youth starts at 1:00 pm and ends at 3:00pm. To participate, simply meet at the Threadgill Stage before the event. Sign up starts at 12:30pm and will continue throughout the performances. YAPI is supported by a full sound system and a professional stage crew. House keyboard provided otherwise bring your own instrument. Visit YAPI on Facebook HERE.
