In 1993, Rich Krueger told Oliver Steck to go to the Kerrville Folk Festival. As a mechanic at that moment, with a broken wrist, he had a weekend spare so he hopped a plane, and spent a weekend working in the kitchen in quiet awe and disbelief of this festival. Freshly unemployed in 1995, he drove to the festival, joined the recycling crew, and felt like he had been welcomed in to a home he didn’t know he had, and made a lot of noise with an accordion. He’s attended the festival for many years since then. When he is not recycling or Emceeing at the Kerrville Folk Festival, Oliver works as a musician, actor, and entertainer. He currently lives in Austin, Texas.
